Transformer looks at the "wall illusions painted on the electrical transformers throughout Istanbul and some surrounding cities." The flattened perspective of the facades, shot head-on and eye-leve, with elements of the real world infringing on the make-believe, sometimes leaves us deceived by what is real and what is painted.
The optical illusion plays into what Sancaktar, speaking of the images, refers to as "a deformed reflection of urban history, architectural element as much as artistic expression."
