Barakat: The Gift
Stux Gallery in New York will be showing Barakat: The Gift starting June 3rd. Curated by Italian curator and art critic Gaia Serena Simionati, the show features painting, sculpture, video, sound and photography by MENA artists including Halim al Karim (Iraq) and Navid Azimi Sajadi (Iran). An artist of many mediums, Sajadi's Ilfoflex print Nuclear Stardom (above) is "...a mosaic that gives the idea of a whole mosque but is in fact formed through each tessera by a nuclear explosion. A confirmation of the link between religion and fear which is spread all over Iran." G.S.Simionati
