Parish Kohanim is an Iranian-Jewish-Canadian (no doubt with exhaustive identity projects if he ever so desires) photographer whose work I discovered while following a trail of links.The first image I saw – which I've also posted here – I really liked, though after seeing Kohanim's entire website, I am left wondering if the work was photographed with the same intent with which I had assumed.
While all of Kohanim's work is technically proficient, and of a similar subject, it is these painterly portraits with what seems like an acknowledgment of the blending of times and mediums that really strike me. There are elements of dress-up and make-believe and that I really like about them... whether it is intentional or not.
